1. Accession number
The unique identifier the lab assigns to the sample when it is received. Every Florida Chemical COA can be verified by entering this number in our public COA lookup.
2. Product and lot
The product name and the manufacturer's lot number for the material tested. The lot number ties the COA back to a specific batch — critical when a customer is trying to verify the exact vial in front of them.
3. Test methods
The analytical methods used. On a peptide COA you should always see both identity (LC-MS) and purity (HPLC-UV). See our HPLC-UV vs LC-MS explainer for what each method actually measures.
4. Results
The measured values — for example an HPLC-UV peak area percent for purity, or an observed monoisotopic mass compared to the theoretical mass for identity. Results are reported to the precision the method actually supports.
5. Acceptance criteria and pass/fail
The specifications the result is judged against, and whether the sample passed. Specifications should be defined before the sample is run, not chosen to fit the data.
6. Test date, analyst and reviewer
When the sample was tested, who performed the analysis, and who reviewed and released the results. Two signatures — analyst and reviewer — are a basic quality-system requirement under ISO/IEC 17025.
7. Laboratory identification and accreditation
The issuing laboratory, address and accreditation status. Florida Chemical is an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab at 6593 Powers Ave, Suite 19, Jacksonville, FL.
Red flags on a peptide COA
- Purity reported without a stated method or wavelength.
- Identity reported without an actual observed mass.
- No accession number, or a number that cannot be verified in a public database.
- Same lab that manufactured the peptide reporting its own result with no third-party verification.
- No analyst or reviewer signatures.
